Plastic surgery is no longer the popular cosmetic procedure among just females. In fact, according to the latest numbers, plastic surgery is not only surging in terms of popularity, but is also becoming popular among men.
The data that was released by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), indicates that men went through 1.1 million cosmetic surgery procedures in the year 2010, which accounts for a 2% increase from the prior year. In particular, certain procedures shown huge % increase in double digits.
Men of age 50 and above got a lot of facelifts done in 2010 along with surgery of the ears, botox, liposuction, and breast reduction procedures. Plastic surgery is continuing to be a very hot trend, primarily among women, but men are getting more and more focused on their looks it seems like. With increasing competition among job markets, men are now taking steps to further enhance their bodies and look better in the eye of the public. This trend is likely to continue and expand in growth over the years to come.
The ASPS reports a total of 5% increase in cosmetic plastic surgery in general from 2009 to 2010.
